Job Description
Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Grip to become a pivotal member of our dynamic film production teams, based in the bustling Islington-City Centre West area of Toronto. In this demanding yet incredibly rewarding role, you will be instrumental in bringing cinematic visions to life, responsible for the meticulous and safe rigging, positioning, and support of essential lighting, camera, and other production equipment. This is a truly hands-on position that demands not only significant physical stamina and technical proficiency but also a keen eye for detail and an unwavering commitment to safety. You will operate at the heart of our sets, collaborating closely with the Gaffer, Director of Photography, and various other department heads and crew members to seamlessly execute the creative and technical requirements of each project. Your expertise will ensure that all equipment is precisely positioned, securely fastened, and meticulously maintained to the highest industry standards, directly impacting the visual quality and logistical flow of our productions.

Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently set up, move, and dismantle camera support equipment, including dollies, jibs, cranes, and sliders.
- Assist the Gaffer and Director of Photography in rigging and positioning lighting fixtures and modifiers (e.g., flags, silks, bounces).
- Construct and maintain various types of grip equipment, ensuring stability and safety for all operations.
- Operate specialized equipment such as car mounts, process trailers, and green/blue screens.
- Load and unload trucks with equipment, ensuring proper handling and organization.
- Perform general on-set tasks as directed by the Key Grip or Gaffer.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, procedures, and best practices on set.
- Collaborate effectively with the camera, lighting, and art departments to achieve desired visual effects.
- Maintain and inspect grip equipment, reporting any damage or malfunction promptly.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Grip on professional film or television sets.
- Strong understanding of film set operations, terminology, and safety protocols.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating various grip equipment (e.g., stands, clamps, flags, diffusers, dollies, cranes).
- Excellent physical stamina and strength, capable of lifting heavy equipment and working long hours.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in film production or grip specific techniques.
- IATSE union membership or eligibility.
- Experience with specialized rigging for stunts or complex camera movements.
- WHMIS and First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience working with LED lighting systems and advanced camera stabilization tools.
