Key Responsibilities
- Perform general grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, edging lawns, and weeding garden beds.
- Plant, cultivate, fertilize, and prune trees, shrubs, flowers, and other plant materials.
- Operate and maintain various landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Monitor and irrigate landscapes, ensuring proper watering schedules and techniques are followed.
- Clear debris, litter, and other refuse from grounds, pathways, and common areas.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, landscape damage, or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies during all operational activities.
- Assist with seasonal clean-up efforts, including leaf removal and preparation for colder months (if applicable at end of season).
- Maintain positive communication with team members and supervisors.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in grounds maintenance or a related field (e.g., landscaping, horticulture, parks maintenance).
- Ability to operate and perform basic maintenance on landscaping equipment (e.g., mowers, string trimmers, leaf blowers).
- Knowledge of basic horticultural practices, including planting, weeding, and pruning techniques.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintaining pristine landscapes.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a horticulture or landscape management program/course.
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with irrigation systems maintenance and repair.
- Familiarity with local plant species and common pests/diseases in British Columbia.
