Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Head of Security to lead our corporate security function, based at our key operational hub near Fairview Mall in Toronto. This is a pivotal role demanding a visionary leader capable of developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive security strategies and programs across our corporate infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for protecting company assets, ensuring the safety and security of our employees, and managing all aspects of physical security, executive protection, investigations, and emergency preparedness.
As the Head of Security, you will be the principal advisor on all security matters, working closely with senior leadership to integrate security best practices into our business operations. Your strategic oversight will encompass risk assessments, policy development, technology deployment, and the management of a dedicated security team. You will foster a culture of vigilance and security awareness, ensuring that all staff are informed and prepared. This role requires an individual with a strong background in corporate security, excellent leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to mitigating potential threats. You will be instrumental in maintaining a safe and secure environment that supports our continued growth and operational excellence. We are looking for someone who can not only react effectively to incidents but, more importantly, proactively identify vulnerabilities and implement preventative measures. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive corporate security strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with organizational objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the corporate security team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular security risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential threats and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Oversee the design, installation, and maintenance of physical security systems, including access control, CCTV, and alarm systems.
- Manage executive protection programs and provide security support for corporate events and travel.
- Develop and manage incident response plans for security breaches, emergencies, and crisis situations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant security regulations, industry standards, and internal corporate governance policies.
- Liaise with law enforcement, emergency services, and other external stakeholders as required.
- Manage the corporate security budget effectively, optimizing resource allocation and technology investments.
- Conduct internal investigations into security incidents, theft, fraud, and other breaches.
- Develop and deliver security awareness training programs for all employees.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in corporate security, law enforcement, or military security management.
- Proven leadership experience managing security teams and complex security operations.
- Strong understanding of physical security systems, access control, and surveillance technologies.
- Expertise in risk assessment, crisis management, and emergency preparedness.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to develop and implement effective security policies and procedures.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Professional certifications such as CPP (Certified Protection Professional) or PSP (Physical Security Professional).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Experience in the retail or corporate office park security environments.
- Knowledge of Canadian security regulations and legal frameworks.
- Experience with security technology integration and project management.
- Fluency in additional languages.
