Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and proactive Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team in East Danforth, Toronto. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in fostering a culture of safety across all our operations, ensuring compliance with provincial and federal regulations, and promoting best practices. You will serve as a central point of contact for all health and safety matters, providing expert guidance, support, and training to management and employees. As our Health and Safety Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health and safety programs. This involves conducting regular risk assessments, facilitating safety training sessions, investigating incidents, and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence. You will work closely with all departments to identify potential hazards, implement preventative measures, and ensure all activities adhere to established safety protocols. Your ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements, such as those from the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), will be paramount to your success.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety programs and procedures.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance with OHSA and other relevant regulations.
- Coordinate and deliver engaging safety training sessions for all employees, including new hire orientations and specialized safety topics.
- Investigate all workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, training, and compliance documentation.
- Serve as a resource for employees and management on all health and safety-related inquiries.
- Lead and facilitate Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings, ensuring active participation and follow-through on action items.
- Monitor changes in health and safety legislation and standards, updating internal policies and procedures accordingly.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through communication campaigns, hazard awareness, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Manage the WSIB claims process and ensure timely reporting and follow-up.
- Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and availability of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Required Skills
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a dedicated health and safety role.
- Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and its regulations.
- Proven ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) or NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) designation.
- Experience in the manufacturing or industrial sector.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience with WSIB claims management.
