Job Description

Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for a highly skilled and dedicated Heavy Equipment Mechanic specializing in industrial machinery to strengthen our team in Lynn Valley, North Vancouver. This pivotal role requires an individual with a deep understanding of heavy construction, forestry, mining, and other industrial equipment, capable of performing comprehensive diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and intricate repairs. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on heavy industrial equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical system failures.
  • Conduct major and minor repairs on engines, transmissions, differentials, and other major components.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Perform equipment inspections to identify potential problems and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Interpret and work from technical manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams.
  • Document all maintenance and repair activities accurately and comprehensively.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental guidelines.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior mechanics or apprentices as needed.
  • Order and maintain inventory of parts and supplies required for repairs.

Required Skills

  • Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with industrial heavy equipment maintenance.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines (e.g., Cummins, Caterpillar, Detroit).
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Expertise in electrical systems, including diagnostics and repairs.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety practices and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specialized diagnostic software for various equipment manufacturers.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • Experience with GPS and telematics systems on heavy equipment.
  • Post-secondary education in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician program.
  • First Aid certification.
