Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Officer to join our vibrant team in Aberdeen Harbour. This pivotal role encompasses the full spectrum of HR functions, with a particular focus on recruitment, efficient payroll management, and fostering positive staff relations. As an HR Officer, you will be instrumental in supporting our organizational growth by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent, ensuring our workforce is engaged and our HR operations run seamlessly.

Your day-to-day will involve a diverse range of responsibilities, from meticulously managing the end-to-end recruitment process – crafting compelling job descriptions, conducting interviews, and coordinating onboarding – to ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. Beyond these core operational tasks, you will be a key point of contact for employee queries, providing guidance on HR policies, and actively contributing to a harmonious work environment. This includes assisting with performance management, grievance procedures, and disciplinary matters, always upholding fairness and compliance with UK employment law.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from job posting and candidate sourcing to interviewing, offer management, and new hire onboarding.
  • Process monthly payroll accurately and on time, including data input, calculations, deductions, and responding to payroll-related queries.
  • Act as a primary point of contact for employee relations issues, providing advice and support on HR policies, grievances, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date HR records and employee files, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Support the performance management process, including tracking reviews and assisting with performance improvement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant UK employment legislation, company policies, and best practices.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Generate HR reports and analytics to support decision-making and identify trends.
  • Coordinate HR-related training and development activities for staff.
  • Support the management of employee benefits administration.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a Human Resources Officer or similar generalist role.
  • Solid understanding of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Demonstrable experience with full-cycle recruitment processes.
  • Proficiency in payroll processing and HR Information Systems (HRIS).
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • CIPD Level 5 qualification or working towards it.
  • Experience working in a dynamic or fast-paced industry.
  • Familiarity with specific HRIS platforms like Sage HR or similar.
