Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of import and export shipments, from order placement to final delivery.
  • Prepare, review, and process all necessary documentation for international shipments, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and customs declarations.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all relevant international trade regulations, customs laws, and company policies.
  • Liaise effectively with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, and internal departments to facilitate smooth cargo movement.
  • Track and trace shipments, providing regular updates to stakeholders and proactively resolving any transit issues or delays.
  • Calculate and verify duties, taxes, and other applicable fees, ensuring accurate and timely payment.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases of all import/export activities for auditing and reporting purposes.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with warehousing teams to optimise storage and dispatch processes.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs in logistics operations.
  • Stay informed of changes in international trade legislation, tariffs, and customs procedures.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as an Import Export Coordinator or similar role within a logistics or supply chain environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and Incoterms.
  • Proficiency in customs documentation and declarations (e.g., SAD, EUR1, Certificates of Origin).
  • Strong understanding of import duties, VAT, and other relevant trade tariffs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with logistics/ERP software.
  • Problem-solving aptitude with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or a related field.
  • Certification in International Trade, Customs Compliance, or a relevant logistics qualification.
  • Experience with a specific customs declaration software (e.g., CHIEF/CDS for UK customs).
  • Familiarity with specific regional trade agreements (e.g., EU-UK TCA, AEO status).
  • Fluency in additional languages relevant to international trade.
