Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Information Security Officer – Professional to join our growing team in Champlain Heights, Vancouver. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in protecting our digital assets, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and managing information security risks across the organization. You will be at the forefront of developing, implementing, and enforcing security policies, standards, and procedures. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of current cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and solutions, along with a strategic mindset to anticipate future challenges. You will work closely with various departments to embed security best practices into all aspects of our operations, from system architecture to daily workflows. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive information security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Manage and respond to security incidents, including investigation, containment, eradication, recovery, and post-incident analysis.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations (e.g., PIPEDA, GDPR) and industry standards.
- Oversee the implementation and maintenance of security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDPS), SIEM, and endpoint protection.
- Provide expert guidance and training to staff on information security awareness and best practices.
- Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate security into the system development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Monitor security logs and alerts for suspicious activity and escalate as necessary.
- Stay current with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to continuously enhance our security posture.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in information security, cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of information security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, CIS Controls).
- Proficiency with security technologies including SIEM, firewalls, antivirus, and vulnerability scanners.
- Experience in risk assessment, vulnerability management, and incident response.
- Solid knowledge of network protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and cloud security principles.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related discipline.
- Advanced security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCSP).
- Experience with compliance audits and regulatory requirements specific to the Canadian context.
- Familiarity with penetration testing methodologies and tools.
- Experience working with a diverse range of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
