Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and experienced International Development Officer to join our dynamic team in Calgary. This pivotal role is for a seasoned professional passionate about driving sustainable change and fostering equitable development initiatives worldwide. You will be instrumental in conceptualizing, planning, and executing complex development programs, ensuring they align with our strategic objectives and deliver measurable impact.

As an International Development Officer, you will leverage your expertise in global development to identify emerging needs, build robust partnerships, and secure resources for impactful projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of new international development programs and projects, aligning with organizational strategy and donor priorities.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with international partners, government agencies, NGOs, and community stakeholders.
  • Manage project lifecycles from initiation to closure, including planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Secure funding through grant writing, proposal development, and donor cultivation, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis on global development trends, challenges, and best practices to inform program design.
  • Oversee project budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and efficient resource allocation.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to field teams and local partners, building their capacity for sustainable development.
  • Represent Hiring.zycto at relevant conferences, workshops, and networking events, advocating for our mission and programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, identifying lessons learned and adapting strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the development of organizational policies and strategies related to international development.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in international development, project management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project design, proposal writing, and grant management.
  • Strong understanding of international development principles, theories, and best practices.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in budget management and financial oversight of international projects.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Fluency in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in International Development, Political Science, Public Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in diverse cultural contexts, particularly in developing countries.
  • Proficiency in a second language (e.g., French, Spanish, Arabic).
  • Familiarity with results-based management and monitoring & evaluation frameworks.
  • Experience in capacity building and training international partners.
