Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and diligent Legal Investigator to join our dynamic team in Mimico, Toronto. This pivotal role involves conducting comprehensive investigations to support various legal cases, playing a critical part in information gathering, evidence collection, and analysis. You will work closely with legal counsel, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure thoroughness and accuracy in all investigative procedures. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough and objective investigations into legal matters, including civil litigation, corporate disputes, and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Gather, analyze, and preserve evidence, including documents, digital data, physical evidence, and witness statements, ensuring chain of custody protocols are maintained.
  • Interview witnesses, complainants, and other relevant parties, skillfully eliciting information while adhering to legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Prepare detailed, accurate, and concise investigative reports summarizing findings, evidence, and recommendations.
  • Collaborate closely with legal teams to understand case objectives, develop investigative strategies, and provide regular updates on progress.
  • Perform background checks, public record searches, and skip tracing to locate individuals or obtain relevant information.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all investigative information and sensitive client data.
  • Potentially provide expert testimony or support during legal proceedings, presenting findings clearly and professionally.
  • Stay abreast of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in legal investigation.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in legal investigation, law enforcement, or a related field.
  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Strong interviewing and interrogation techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and stakeholder interaction.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and investigative software.
  • High degree of integrity, discretion, and ethical conduct.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple investigations simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
  • Certification as a Certified Legal Investigator (CLI) or equivalent professional designation.
  • Experience with complex financial investigations or digital forensics.
  • Fluency in additional languages relevant to the local demographic.
