Key Responsibilities
- Erect and dismantle structural steel frames for various construction projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other construction documents.
- Fabricate, position, align, and connect steel components using bolts, rivets, or by welding.
- Operate various power tools, hand tools, and heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform rigging and hoisting of heavy steel components to specified locations.
- Ensure all work adheres to provincial building codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Inspect erected structures for conformity to specifications and perform necessary adjustments.
- Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and project managers to ensure timely project completion.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are stored properly.
Required Skills
- Journeyman Ironworker certification or equivalent Red Seal qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience in structural steel erection.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpretation.
- Demonstrated expertise in stick welding (SMAW) and bolt-up connections.
- Strong understanding and adherence to construction safety regulations (e.g., Working at Heights, WHMIS).
- Ability to work comfortably and safely at significant heights.
- Excellent physical stamina, coordination, and manual dexterity.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with complex or large-scale commercial/industrial projects.
- Additional welding certifications (e.g., FCAW, GMAW).
- Experience operating various types of aerial work platforms and forklifts.
- Valid Class G Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
