Job Description

Are you an adept problem-solver with a passion for technology and a knack for hands-on hardware expertise? Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated IT Technician to join our dynamic team in Gorgie, Edinburgh. In this pivotal role, you will be the frontline support for all hardware-related matters, ensuring our critical systems run smoothly and efficiently. This isn’t just about fixing things; it’s about proactively maintaining a robust IT infrastructure that underpins our success and empowers our employees to perform at their best.

As an IT Technician, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of our hardware assets, from initial setup and configuration of new equipment to ongoing maintenance, in-depth troubleshooting, and eventual secure decommissioning. You’ll work with a diverse range of equipment, including workstations, laptops, servers, network devices, printers, and various peripherals, across multiple operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and potentially some Linux environments. Your day-to-day will involve diagnosing and resolving complex hardware and software issues, performing necessary upgrades, installing new applications, and ensuring all systems are secure, compliant, and up-to-date with the latest patches.

We’re looking for someone who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, possesses excellent communication skills, and is committed to delivering outstanding user support with a patient and empathetic approach. You’ll collaborate closely with fellow IT team members and end-users from various departments, translating technical jargon into understandable solutions and providing clear guidance on best practices and system usage. A strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and basic routing/switching concepts, is essential to effectively troubleshoot connectivity and network access issues, ensuring seamless communication across our infrastructure.

Beyond reactive problem-solving, you will play a crucial role in preventative maintenance schedules, meticulous inventory management of IT assets, and contributing to the development and refinement of IT policies and procedures. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to deepen your technical skills, work with cutting-edge technologies, and grow within a supportive and forward-thinking company that values innovation and efficiency. If you’re ready to make a tangible impact on our operational stability and ensure the seamless performance of our technological backbone, we encourage you to apply.
