Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and skilled IT Technician to join our growing team in Streetly, Birmingham. This is a pivotal role for an individual passionate about technology and committed to ensuring seamless hardware operations across our organization. As our IT Technician, you will be the go-to expert for all hardware-related matters, from initial setup and configuration to advanced troubleshooting and preventative maintenance. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform setup, installation, configuration, and deployment of new hardware including desktops, laptops, printers, servers, and other peripheral devices.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware-related issues promptly and efficiently, including component failures, connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance, updates, and upgrades for all hardware systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Provide technical support to end-users, guiding them through hardware-related problems and offering solutions with a professional and friendly demeanor.
  • Document all technical issues, resolutions, and system configurations accurately within our IT service management platform.
  • Manage inventory of IT hardware, track assets, and facilitate procurement of new equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with the network and software teams to ensure hardware compatibility and smooth integration with existing systems.
  • Assist in the evaluation and testing of new hardware technologies and solutions to enhance company infrastructure.
  • Adhere to IT security policies and best practices to safeguard company data and systems.
  • Train end-users on basic hardware operation and best practices to minimize common issues.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting for desktops, laptops, and peripherals.
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware components and their functions (CPU, RAM, storage, motherboards, GPUs).
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues related to operating systems (Windows, macOS) in a hardware context.
  • Familiarity with network hardware (routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points) and basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective user support.
  • Ability to lift and move computer equipment as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CompTIA A+ or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with server hardware and basic server maintenance tasks.
  • Knowledge of IT asset management best practices.
  • Experience with remote diagnostic tools and support software.
  • A degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
