Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Janitor to join our team, specifically for a bustling construction site located in the vibrant Esplanade area of Toronto. This isn’t just a cleaning role; it’s a critical position that ensures the safety, orderliness, and overall operational efficiency of our dynamic construction environment. You will be instrumental in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness across various areas, from common zones and offices to temporary facilities and washrooms, contributing directly to a productive and hazard-free workplace for all crew members.

You will be responsible for a wide array of cleaning tasks, managing waste, and ensuring that all cleaning activities comply with site safety protocols. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming floors, and dusting surfaces within offices, trailers, washrooms, and common areas on the construction site.
  • Clean and sanitize washroom facilities, ensuring they are well-stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins regularly, ensuring proper waste segregation and disposal according to site policies.
  • Maintain cleanliness of lunchrooms and break areas, including wiping down counters, tables, and appliances.
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies, reporting needs to the site supervisor.
  • Operate basic cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Report any maintenance issues, safety hazards, or major spills to the site supervisor promptly.
  • Adhere strictly to all site safety protocols and environmental regulations.
  • Assist with seasonal tasks such as clearing pathways or general site tidy-up as required.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Janitor, Cleaner, or similar role, preferably in a construction or industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, with the ability to use them safely and effectively.
  • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high standard for cleanliness.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 25 lbs), and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations on a job site.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid WHMIS certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience operating floor buffers or other heavy-duty cleaning equipment.
