Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and versatile Journalist to join our vibrant newsroom in Llandaff, Cardiff. Key Responsibilities

  • Generate, research, and pitch original news stories and feature ideas relevant to the local and regional audience for both print and online platforms.
  • Conduct interviews with sources, officials, and community members to gather accurate and compelling information.
  • Write clear, concise, engaging, and error-free copy under tight deadlines, adhering to journalistic standards and style guides.
  • Verify facts, sources, and data to ensure the accuracy and credibility of all published content.
  • Utilize multimedia tools (photos, videos, audio) to enhance online stories and audience engagement.
  • Monitor news developments, social media, and other sources to identify emerging stories and trends.
  • Collaborate with editors, photographers, and other team members throughout the editorial process.
  • Maintain an active presence on social media to promote content and engage with readers.
  • Attend press conferences, community meetings, and events as required.
  • Ensure all content complies with media law, ethical guidelines, and company policies.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English.
  • Demonstrable experience in news gathering, interviewing, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of journalistic ethics and media law.
  • Proficiency in digital content creation and management (CMS experience a plus).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong research and analytical capabilities.
  • Proficiency with common office software and communication tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with the Llandaff/Cardiff region and its community.
