Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain dishwashing machinery, ensuring all crockery, cutlery, and kitchen equipment are thoroughly cleaned, sanitised, and ready for use.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of all kitchen areas, including floors, work surfaces, storage areas, and equipment, adhering to strict health and safety standards.
  • Assist with the unloading, receiving, and proper storage of deliveries, ensuring stock is rotated and organised efficiently.
  • Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies and notify management when replenishment is required.
  • Empty bins and manage waste disposal according to company guidelines and environmental regulations.
  • Support chefs and kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks when required, such as peeling vegetables or transferring ingredients.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is clean and stored correctly at the end of each shift.
  • Adhere to all food safety and health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Assist with deep cleaning schedules and special cleaning projects as directed by kitchen management.

Required Skills

  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items (up to 20kg).
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail regarding cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a kitchen setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar hospitality role.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 1 or 2).
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
