Job Description

Hiring.zycto is actively seeking a profoundly empathetic and highly skilled Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) to join our esteemed network of healthcare professionals in the vibrant heart of Vancouver, BC. This pivotal and rewarding role places you at the forefront of maternal and infant health, where you will provide expert, evidence-based lactation support, comprehensive education, and critical clinical management to new and expectant parents. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive lactation assessments, develop individualized care plans, and provide evidence-based counseling to new and expectant mothers.
  • Educate parents on breastfeeding techniques, milk supply management, latch issues, engorgement, mastitis, and other common lactation concerns.
  • Provide skilled guidance and support for complex cases, including premature infants, multiples, infants with special needs, and mothers facing medical challenges.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with professional standards.
  • Develop and deliver educational workshops, classes, and support groups for families and healthcare staff on various lactation topics.
  • Stay current with the latest research, best practices, and advancements in lactation management and infant feeding.
  • Advocate for breastfeeding and promote a supportive environment for breastfeeding mothers within the community.

Required Skills

  • Current International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a Lactation Consultant.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of human lactation, infant feeding, and maternal-infant health.
  • Exceptional communication, active listening, and empathetic counseling skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and standard office software.
  • Valid CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a hospital, clinic, or community health setting.
  • Bilingualism (e.g., English and Mandarin/Cantonese/Punjabi) due to Vancouver's diverse population.
  • Experience with perinatal education program development and delivery.
  • Membership in relevant professional organizations (e.g., ILCA, LCANZ).
