Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Field Land Surveyor to join our growing team in Toronto. This is an exceptional opportunity for a detail-oriented professional passionate about precision, accuracy, and working outdoors. As a Land Surveyor – Field, you will be instrumental in collecting critical spatial data that underpins a wide array of projects, from intricate urban infrastructure developments to large-scale commercial and residential builds. You will be responsible for leading and executing various types of surveys, ensuring all fieldwork is conducted to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. Your daily tasks will involve operating advanced surveying equipment, interpreting complex plans, and contributing to the successful completion of projects across the Greater Toronto Area.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and conduct various types of land surveys, including boundary, topographic, construction staking, ALTA/ACSM, and as-built surveys.
- Operate and maintain a diverse range of modern surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, levels, and data collectors.
- Accurately collect, verify, and process field data, ensuring compliance with project specifications and regulatory standards.
- Interpret survey plans, maps, legal descriptions, and engineering drawings to establish survey control and project layouts.
- Supervise and mentor junior survey technicians or assistants, fostering a collaborative and productive field team.
- Implement and adhere to all company safety protocols and industry best practices to ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform complex calculations and field checks to ensure the precision and accuracy of all collected data.
- Maintain detailed and organized field notes, documentation, and digital records.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and other team members regarding project status and potential challenges.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting modern surveying equipment (GPS, total stations, levels, data collectors).
- Strong understanding of land surveying principles, methodologies, and calculations.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret survey maps, blueprints, legal descriptions, and engineering plans.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Valid G driver's license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel to various job sites.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform demanding outdoor work in diverse weather conditions and terrains.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and team collaboration.
- Proficiency with field data collection software.
Preferred Qualifications
- College Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Geomatics, Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field.
- Registration as a Survey Intern (S.I.) or actively working towards professional designation (OLS).
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D) for data processing and basic drafting.
- Familiarity with local municipal bylaws, regulations, and survey standards in Ontario.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with drone-based surveying (UAS/UAV) technology.
