Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Laundry Attendant to join our busy Fabric & Linen Management team in Attercliffe, Sheffield. In this essential role, you will be responsible for the meticulous care and processing of a high volume of linens and fabrics, ensuring they meet our rigorous quality and hygiene standards. You will be a vital part of operations, handling everything from initial sorting and washing to drying, pressing, and final presentation. Key Responsibilities
- Sort incoming laundry items by fabric type, colour, and degree of soiling, identifying any special treatment requirements.
- Operate and monitor industrial washing machines, dryers, and pressing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload laundry, ensuring correct machine settings and cycles are selected for optimal cleaning and care.
- Conduct thorough quality checks on all cleaned items for stains, damage, and overall presentation, taking corrective action as needed.
- Fold, stack, and organize clean linens and garments according to company standards and client specifications.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic work area, adhering strictly to health and safety regulations.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, supply shortages, or safety hazards promptly to management.
- Assist with inventory management, including counting and tracking linen stock.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to environmental sustainability and waste management.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy bags of laundry (up to 25kg), and perform repetitive tasks.
- Exceptional attention to detail for quality control and spotting imperfections.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Basic understanding of health, safety, and hygiene practices.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (at least 6 months) in a commercial laundry, hotel laundry, or similar industrial setting.
- Familiarity with various fabric types and their specific care requirements.
- Experience operating industrial laundry machinery and equipment.
- Understanding of COSHH regulations related to cleaning chemicals.
