As a Legal Assistant, you will be deeply involved in the lifecycle of legal cases, from initial client intake to final resolution. Key Responsibilities
- Draft and prepare a variety of legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, motions, agreements, and briefs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal formatting standards.
- Manage and organise both physical and electronic case files, maintaining meticulous records and ensuring all documentation is easily accessible.
- Assist with legal research, gathering relevant statutes, case law, and other legal information as directed by solicitors.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, appointments, court dates, and client consultations, managing calendars effectively.
- Handle incoming and outgoing legal correspondence, including mail, email, and fax, ensuring timely distribution and response.
- Liaise with clients, court personnel, and external counsel in a professional and courteous manner.
- Prepare bundles and court documents, ensuring all necessary enclosures are present and correctly formatted.
- Process invoices, expenses, and other financial administration tasks as required.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client matters and firm information.
- Provide general administrative support to the legal team, including photocopying, scanning, and data entry.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (2+ years) as a Legal Assistant or in a similar administrative role within a legal environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of English grammar and spelling.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and legal practice management software.
- Exceptional organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all work produced.
- Strong ethical conduct and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- A diploma or degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
