Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our dedicated team in Dore, Sheffield. Key Responsibilities
- Drafting, reviewing, and proofreading a variety of legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, motions, and agreements, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards and firm guidelines.
- Managing and organizing physical and electronic case files, ensuring all documents are correctly indexed, stored, and easily retrievable.
- Electronically filing legal documents with courts and administrative bodies, adhering strictly to deadlines and procedural rules.
- Assisting solicitors with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing witness lists, and compiling trial binders.
- Conducting preliminary legal research using various databases and resources as directed by solicitors.
- Scheduling appointments, meetings, and court dates, and managing diaries for assigned solicitors.
- Liaising with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and other external parties in a professional and courteous manner.
- Handling incoming and outgoing mail, email, and phone calls, directing inquiries appropriately.
- Processing and tracking invoices, expenses, and client billing records.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality of all client and firm information.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar legal support role (minimum 1 year).
- Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in drafting and proofreading legal documents.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and court rules.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Discretion and ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
- Experience with legal case management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase).
- Familiarity with UK legal system and specific local court procedures in Sheffield.
