Job Description

In this role, you will play a key part in the strategic development and management of both physical and digital resources, ensuring our collections remain relevant, diverse, and responsive to the needs of our community. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage diverse collections (print, digital, multimedia) aligned with community needs and library policy.
  • Design, promote, and deliver engaging educational and cultural programs, workshops, and events for various age groups.
  • Provide expert reference and research assistance, guiding patrons in accessing and evaluating information.
  • Implement and maintain library management systems and emerging library technologies.
  • Conduct community outreach to build partnerships and promote library services.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and evaluation of library services.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of junior library staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure the library environment is welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to all patrons.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) from an ALA-accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional library experience.
  • Strong understanding of current library practices, trends, and information technologies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with integrated library systems (ILS) and digital resource platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver engaging library programming.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with specific library software (e.g., Koha, Evergreen, WorldCat).
  • Project management experience within a library or information services setting.
  • Knowledge of French or other languages relevant to Toronto's diverse community.
  • Experience in collection development budgeting and vendor relations.
