Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking dedicated and vigilant Lifeguards to join our team, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all patrons at our state-of-the-art aquatic facility in Churchill Meadows, Mississauga. As a Lifeguard, you will be the cornerstone of our commitment to safety, directly responsible for preventing accidents, responding to emergencies, and maintaining a secure environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities. This role goes beyond just watching the water; it involves active engagement with the community, enforcing facility rules with a positive and educational approach, and promoting water safety awareness.
Your day-to-day will be dynamic, encompassing everything from continuous surveillance of the pool area to conducting regular safety checks on equipment and water quality. You’ll be a visible and approachable presence, ready to provide assistance, answer questions, and offer guidance to ensure everyone’s visit is safe and pleasant. We are looking for individuals who possess a keen eye for detail, exceptional judgment, and the ability to act calmly and decisively under pressure. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in and around the aquatic facility to prevent injuries and ensure safety.
- Enforce all aquatic facility rules, regulations, and policies in a fair and consistent manner.
- Respond immediately and effectively to emergencies, including water rescues, first aid, and CPR/AED administration.
- Perform daily inspections of the pool area, equipment, and facility for cleanliness, maintenance, and safety compliance.
- Assist with pool opening and closing procedures, including setting up and storing equipment.
- Complete incident reports accurately and promptly for all accidents, injuries, and rule infractions.
- Educate patrons on water safety practices and facility guidelines.
- Monitor and record pool chemical levels and ensure water quality meets health and safety standards.
- Participate in regular in-service training and skill drills to maintain and improve lifeguarding proficiency.
Required Skills
- National Lifeguard (NL) certification (Lifesaving Society)
- Standard First Aid with CPR/AED Level C certification
- Strong swimming proficiency and endurance
- Excellent observational and decision-making skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with patrons and staff
- Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures
- Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous lifeguarding experience in a similar aquatic environment
- Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification
- Experience with pool operations and maintenance
- Customer service experience in a recreational setting
- Additional aquatic certifications or specializations
