As a Lighting Technician – Stage & Event Setup, you will be instrumental in the successful execution of diverse projects, from corporate conferences and theatrical productions to concerts and private events. You will work with state-of-the-art lighting equipment, translating design concepts into stunning realities. Your days will be dynamic, involving everything from meticulously preparing gear in the warehouse to rigging, programming, operating, and ultimately de-rigging complex lighting systems on-site. Key Responsibilities
- Setup, operate, and de-rig a variety of lighting fixtures, consoles, and associated control systems for live events and productions.
- Interpret lighting plans and specifications to ensure accurate and safe installation of equipment.
- Conduct pre-event checks, fault finding, and routine maintenance on lighting equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Work collaboratively with event managers, designers, sound technicians, and other crew members to achieve integrated production goals.
- Program and operate lighting consoles (e.g., GrandMA, Avolites, Chamsys) during rehearsals and live performances.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, including working at height and safe manual handling practices.
- Manage power distribution and cabling, ensuring clean and safe installations.
- Assist with equipment loading and unloading, inventory management, and warehouse organisation.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Lighting Technician in a live event, theatre, or production environment.
- Strong understanding of DMX protocols, network lighting systems, and intelligent lighting fixtures.
- Proficiency in operating professional lighting consoles (e.g., GrandMA, Avolites, Chamsys, ETC).
- Solid knowledge of electrical safety, power distribution, and fault diagnosis.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, lighting plots, and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy equipment and work at height.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., IPAF, PASMA, ECS Card).
- Knowledge of CAD software for lighting design (e.g., Vectorworks, AutoCAD).
- Experience with video mapping and projection systems.
- Full UK Driving License.
- First Aid certification.
