Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Installer for Outside Plant (OSP) operations to join our growing team in Osborne Village, Winnipeg. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair aerial and underground telecommunication lines, cables (copper and fiber optic), and associated equipment.
- Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, trenchers, and other machinery safely and efficiently.
- Perform splicing, termination, and testing of copper and fiber optic cables.
- Diagnose and resolve service issues, including signal interference, cable breaks, and equipment malfunctions.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and industry regulations (e.g., OH&S, utility codes).
- Read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and work orders to ensure accurate installation.
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate project execution.
- Complete necessary documentation, including work orders, service reports, and safety checklists.
- Ensure proper grounding and bonding of equipment and infrastructure.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working order.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Line Installer or similar OSP role.
- Proficiency in installing, splicing, and testing copper and fiber optic cables.
- Ability to work at heights (e.g., climbing poles, operating bucket trucks).
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with various hand and power tools.
- Strong understanding of telecommunications infrastructure and principles.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather conditions.
- Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a relevant post-secondary program or trade certification (e.g., Telecommunications Technician, Power Lineman).
- Experience with various splicing equipment and test gear (OTDR, power meters).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Confined Space Entry and Fall Protection training.
- Experience operating various types of heavy equipment relevant to OSP construction.
