Key Responsibilities

  • Originate new loan applications by actively seeking out and developing relationships with potential borrowers and referral partners.
  • Evaluate loan applications, financial statements, and credit reports to assess applicants' creditworthiness and financial standing.
  • Educate clients on various loan products, terms, and conditions, helping them select the most suitable options for their needs.
  • Guide applicants through the entire loan process from initial application to closing, ensuring a smooth and transparent experience.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all federal, provincial, and company lending regulations and policies.
  • Collaborate with underwriters, processors, and closing departments to facilitate timely and accurate loan processing.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of current market trends, interest rates, and competitor offerings.
  • Achieve and exceed monthly and quarterly loan origination targets and other performance metrics.
  • Resolve client inquiries and issues promptly and professionally, building lasting relationships.
  • Prepare and present loan proposals, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Loan Officer, Mortgage Broker, or similar lending role.
  • Proven ability to generate leads and build a strong client pipeline.
  • In-depth knowledge of lending products (mortgage, personal, commercial) and financial markets.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and assess risk.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in loan origination software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong ethical standards and a commitment to client confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Mortgage Broker License in BC, if applicable).
  • Established network of referral sources within the Burnaby/Greater Vancouver area.
  • Experience with CRM systems for client management.
