Job Description
Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for a highly vigilant and professional Loss Prevention Officer to join our dynamic retail team in Milliken, Toronto. This critical role is designed for an individual who is passionate about creating a safe and secure shopping environment, protecting company assets, and ensuring the well-being of our customers and staff. As a Loss Prevention Officer, you will be the frontline defender against theft, fraud, and other security risks, playing a pivotal role in maintaining operational integrity and profitability.
Your day-to-day will involve a proactive blend of surveillance, investigative work, and direct intervention. You will utilize advanced security systems and your keen observational skills to identify and deter potential loss. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct overt and covert surveillance to identify and deter dishonest activities (e.g., shoplifting, internal theft, fraud).
- Respond to security incidents, investigate occurrences, and take appropriate action in accordance with company policies and legal guidelines.
- Apprehend and detain individuals involved in theft, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Prepare detailed and accurate reports on all incidents, observations, and investigations.
- Liaise effectively with law enforcement agencies during investigations and prosecutions.
- Monitor and operate CCTV and other security equipment efficiently.
- Assist in training retail staff on loss prevention awareness and procedures.
- Conduct regular safety and security audits of the retail premises.
- Maintain a visible presence on the sales floor to act as a deterrent and assist customers.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures related to loss prevention and security.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in loss prevention, security, or a related field, preferably in a retail environment.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally.
- Proficiency in writing clear, concise, and accurate incident reports.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations pertaining to theft, apprehension, and criminal procedure.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and respond to incidents for extended periods.
- Proficiency with security systems, including CCTV.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Provincial Security Guard License (Ontario).
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Post-secondary education in Criminology, Law Enforcement, or a related field.
- Experience with Wicklander-Zulawski or Reid interviewing techniques.
- Previous experience working in a large retail store or mall environment.
