Hiring.zycto is on the lookout for a highly skilled and imaginative Makeup Artist with a strong background in film production to join our dedicated creative team in Kingsview Village-The Westway, Toronto. This full-time, on-site role offers an extraordinary opportunity to bring characters to life and significantly contribute to the visual storytelling of our diverse cinematic projects.
As a Makeup Artist for our film productions, you will be instrumental in conceptualizing, designing, and executing makeup looks that range from subtle character enhancements to elaborate special effects and historical recreations. You will work closely with directors, cinematographers, costume designers, and actors, ensuring that every makeup application perfectly aligns with the director’s vision and enhances the actor’s performance on screen. Your artistry will be key in conveying emotion, character development, and narrative details, making each frame impactful.

Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with directors, production designers, and costume designers to develop and execute character-specific makeup designs.
- Apply various makeup techniques, including beauty, corrective, special effects (SFX), prosthetics, and period makeup.
- Maintain strict continuity of makeup looks throughout filming schedules and reshoots.
- Prepare actors for scenes, ensuring comfort and adherence to hygiene standards.
- Manage and maintain a comprehensive makeup kit, tools, and inventory of products.
- Adapt makeup application for different lighting conditions, camera angles, and high-definition filming.
- Research historical and cultural makeup styles as required by specific projects.
- Work efficiently under tight deadlines and changing production schedules.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations on set.
- Provide touch-ups and adjustments during takes to ensure consistent visual quality.
Required Skills
- Professional certification or diploma in Makeup Artistry.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Makeup Artist in film or television production.
- Extensive portfolio demonstrating expertise in a range of makeup styles, including beauty, character, and special effects.
- Deep understanding of color theory, skin tones, and facial anatomy.
- Proficiency with various makeup products, tools, and application techniques.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to dynamic production environments.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to continuity.
- Knowledge of industry-standard hygiene and sanitation practices.
