Your day-to-day will involve interpreting blueprints and schematics, accurately measuring and cutting materials, mixing mortars and adhesives, and laying bricks, blocks, and tiles with utmost precision. We expect a keen attention to detail in ensuring proper alignment, spacing, and grout application. This role demands a professional who is not only proficient with traditional masonry techniques but also adaptable to new materials and methods in tile finishing, always striving for excellence and efficiency. Key Responsibilities
- Execute high-quality masonry work for walls, including bricklaying, block work, and stone setting.
- Perform precise tile installation for floors, walls, and other surfaces, ensuring perfect alignment and finish.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine materials and methods required.
- Prepare surfaces for masonry and tiling, including cleaning, leveling, and applying primers or waterproofing.
- Mix and apply mortar, grout, and adhesives according to project specifications and manufacturer guidelines.
- Cut and shape bricks, blocks, tiles, and other materials using hand and power tools.
- Ensure all work adheres to safety standards, building codes, and quality control guidelines.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, other trades, and clients to ensure timely project completion.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly cared for.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Mason with a strong focus on wall and tile finishing.
- Expertise in bricklaying, block work, and various tiling techniques (ceramic, porcelain, natural stone).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong knowledge of different types of mortars, adhesives, and grouts.
- Excellent spatial awareness and mathematical skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High level of physical stamina and dexterity.
- Commitment to quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in Trowel Occupations or Wall and Floor Tiling.
- CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme).
- Experience with specialized tiling materials or complex patterns.
- Full UK driving license with access to own transport.
