As a Masonry Helper, you will play a crucial role in supporting our experienced masons, learning the fundamentals of bricklaying, block laying, and stone setting. You will be responsible for preparing materials, maintaining a clean and safe worksite, and assisting with various tasks essential to successful masonry projects. Key Responsibilities
- Load, unload, and transport masonry materials such as bricks, blocks, stones, mortar, and tools to and from work areas.
- Mix mortar, grout, and other compounds according to specifications, ensuring proper consistency.
- Assist skilled masons by supplying materials, tools, and equipment as needed, keeping them stocked and organized.
- Clean work areas, remove debris, sweep, and perform general site maintenance to ensure a safe and organized environment.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely under supervision, including wheelbarrows, shovels, and mixers.
- Set up and dismantle scaffolding and other temporary structures, adhering to safety protocols.
- Learn to identify different types of masonry materials and understand their proper application.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and a desire to learn new skills.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety practices and procedures.
- Basic understanding of English for communication and safety instructions.
