Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a diverse range of makes and models.
  • Conduct routine service inspections, oil changes, tyre rotations, brake system checks, and fluid top-ups.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues using advanced diagnostic equipment.
  • Execute repairs including engine overhauls, transmission servicing, suspension work, and exhaust system replacements.
  • Ensure all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all repair work performed, parts used, and time taken.
  • Provide clear and concise explanations of vehicle issues and recommended repairs to service advisors and customers.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and workshop procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated with automotive advancements.
  • Keep the workshop clean, organised, and tidy.

Required Skills

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a qualified Mechanic/Vehicle Technician.
  • Proficiency in using advanced diagnostic tools and equipment (e.g., OBD-II scanners, oscilloscopes).
  • Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, engine management, braking, and steering systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced diagnostic certifications (e.g., ATA, Bosch).
  • Experience with luxury or high-performance vehicle brands.
  • Hybrid and electric vehicle qualification (e.g., IMI Level 2/3 in EV/Hybrid).
  • Prior experience in a busy main dealer or independent specialist workshop.
