Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health and Addiction Worker to join our dynamic team in Beauport, Quebec City. This crucial role involves providing direct support, guidance, and intervention to individuals experiencing mental health challenges and/or addiction issues. You will be instrumental in helping clients develop coping strategies, achieve personal goals, and reintegrate into their communities with dignity and independence. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial assessments of clients to identify mental health and addiction challenges, needs, and strengths.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with clients, outlining achievable goals and strategies for recovery.
- Provide one-on-one and group counseling, support, and psychoeducation on topics such as addiction recovery, harm reduction, stress management, and relapse prevention.
- Facilitate access to appropriate community resources, housing, employment, and educational opportunities.
- Monitor client progress, evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, and adjust care plans as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting all interactions, progress, and relevant information.
- Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure their rights are respected and their needs are met within the healthcare and social service systems.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, psychologists, and medical staff, to ensure integrated care.
- Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and professional development training to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Respond to crisis situations with appropriate intervention strategies, de-escalation techniques, and support referrals.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, or a related human services field.
- Minimum 2 years of direct experience working in mental health and/or addiction services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of mental health disorders, addiction cycles, and recovery principles.
- Proficiency in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse client populations.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple client cases effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Fluency in both French and English (spoken and written) is highly desirable given the Beauport location.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Certification or specialized training in addiction counseling (e.g., addiction counselor certification).
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Familiarity with local Quebec community resources and support networks.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle for client visits.
