Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Full-Time Meteorologist to join our dynamic team in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and disseminate accurate short-term and long-range weather forecasts for the Lake Charles area and surrounding regions.
- Monitor real-time weather conditions using radar, satellite, surface observations, and numerical model outputs.
- Analyze complex meteorological data to identify trends, potential hazards, and significant weather events, including severe thunderstorms, hurricanes, and coastal flooding.
- Prepare detailed weather briefings, reports, and advisories for internal teams and external clients or the public.
- Communicate critical weather information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences, including those without meteorological backgrounds.
- Utilize and interpret advanced meteorological software and tools for data visualization and analysis.
- Participate in emergency preparedness and response activities related to severe weather.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of forecasting methodologies and data analysis techniques.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of meteorological science, technologies, and regional weather patterns.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in meteorological data analysis and interpretation.
- Experience with numerical weather prediction models and ensemble forecasting.
- Strong understanding of synoptic and mesoscale meteorology, particularly severe weather and tropical cyclone dynamics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and make rapid, accurate decisions during critical weather events.
- Familiarity with standard meteorological software and data visualization tools (e.g., GRLevelX, AWIPS, GIS).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Meteorology or Atmospheric Science.
- Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) or Certified Consulting Meteorologist (CCM) certification.
- 3+ years of professional forecasting experience, ideally with a focus on Gulf Coast or severe weather.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis and automation.
- Familiarity with hydrometeorology and coastal oceanographic processes.
