Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care to women.
  • Conduct physical assessments, order diagnostic tests, and interpret results.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients.
  • Offer education and counseling on pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and women's health topics.
  • Attend and manage labor and birth, ensuring safe delivery outcomes.
  • Provide immediate care for newborns and postpartum mothers.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough patient records.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and team meetings.

Required Skills

  • Current Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) or Certified Midwife (CM) certification.
  • Active, unrestricted Midwifery license in the state of Maine.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience as a practicing Midwife.
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctorate degree in Midwifery.
  • Experience with diverse patient populations and cultural competence.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish or French).
