Hiring.zycto is seeking highly motivated and safety-conscious Underground Miners to join our dedicated team. Based out of our Ottawa office, this crucial role involves hands-on work in subterranean environments, contributing to essential resource projects that drive progress and innovation. As an Underground Miner, you will be instrumental in the excavation, extraction, and development of underground spaces, ensuring all operations adhere to the strictest safety protocols and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy underground mining equipment such as jumbos, scoops, rock breakers, and haulage trucks safely and efficiently.
- Perform drilling, blasting, mucking, and scaling operations in accordance with established procedures and safety regulations.
- Install and maintain ground support systems, including rock bolts, mesh, and shotcrete, to ensure structural integrity.
- Conduct pre-shift inspections of equipment and working areas, identifying and reporting any hazards or defects.
- Participate in regular safety meetings and contribute to a proactive safety culture.
- Monitor ventilation systems and air quality, ensuring a safe breathable atmosphere.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and provincial mining regulations.
- Report all incidents, hazards, and near misses immediately to supervision.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to minimize risks.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to achieve production targets and project goals.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on equipment as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Underground Miner or in a similar heavy industrial role.
- Valid Common Core or provincial equivalent underground mining certifications.
- Strong understanding of underground mining methods, safety procedures, and regulations.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery (e.g., loaders, drills, haulage trucks).
- Excellent physical stamina and ability to work in confined, challenging environments.
- High degree of safety consciousness and commitment to safe work practices.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Mechanical aptitude for minor equipment maintenance.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Blasting license (Ontario or equivalent).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with modern mining technology and automation.
- Valid G class driver’s license.
