Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging and comprehensive music lessons to students of varying ages and abilities.
- Teach a range of musical instruments (e.g., piano, guitar, voice, strings, brass, woodwind) and theoretical concepts.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to support their musical development.
- Prepare students for performances, examinations, and school-wide musical events.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages creativity and participation.
- Select appropriate teaching materials and resources, incorporating technology where beneficial.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate music into the broader curriculum.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay current with music education trends.
- Manage and maintain musical instruments and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and engagement.
Required Skills
- Excellent proficiency in at least two musical instruments, with strong theoretical knowledge.
- Demonstrated ability to teach music across various age groups and skill levels.
- Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in music notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale) and digital audio workstations (DAWs) is a plus.
- Creativity and adaptability in lesson planning and delivery.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for music education.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students.
Preferred Qualifications
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, or equivalent).
- Experience in leading student ensembles, choirs, or musical productions.
- Knowledge of different pedagogical approaches to music education (e.g., Kodály, Orff, Dalcroze).
- First Aid certification.
- Experience with a diverse range of musical genres and cultures.
