Job Description

Hiring.zycto is excited to invite passionate and skilled Music Teachers to join our growing team in Jasper Place, Edmonton. This part-time role offers a unique opportunity to provide individualized and group music lessons, inspiring students of all ages and skill levels to discover and deepen their musical abilities. As a Music Teacher, you will be instrumental in cultivating a love for music, building foundational skills, and guiding students through their musical journey. We are looking for an enthusiastic educator who can create engaging, personalized lesson plans, adapt to various learning styles, and foster a positive, encouraging atmosphere. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans tailored to individual student needs and learning styles.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group instruction in various musical instruments or voice, covering theory, technique, and repertoire.
  • Assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and communicate effectively with students and their parents/guardians.
  • Prepare students for recitals, auditions, examinations, or other performance opportunities as appropriate.
  • Foster a positive, encouraging, and respectful learning environment that promotes musical growth and self-expression.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and lesson content.
  • Collaborate with other educators and staff to contribute to a vibrant and supportive musical community.
  • Stay updated on current music education trends and incorporate innovative teaching methods.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in at least one primary musical instrument (e.g., piano, guitar, voice, violin) with demonstrable performance ability.
  • Strong understanding of music theory, harmony, and ear training.
  • Excellent pedagogical skills with the ability to explain complex musical concepts clearly and engagingly.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of connecting with students of diverse ages and backgrounds.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for teaching and inspiring others.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities for planning lessons and managing schedules.
  • Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit individual student needs and learning preferences.
  • Demonstrated reliability and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field.
  • Prior experience teaching music lessons to children, teenagers, and/or adults.
  • Knowledge of various music genres, styles, and teaching methodologies.
  • Certification or accreditation from a recognized music examination board (e.g., RCM, Conservatory Canada).
  • Experience with music technology and digital learning tools.
