Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our growing team in Newport. This pivotal role focuses on ensuring robust connectivity, implementing stringent security measures, and providing expert support for our intricate network infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, configure, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), wireless networks, and other data communications systems.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN devices (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto).
  • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability; perform network upgrades and migrations.
  • Implement and manage network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware, including intrusion detection and prevention systems.
  • Provide expert-level network support and rapid resolution for incidents and problems, participating in on-call rotation as required.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, processes, and service records.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and operation of network services.
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to identify and address potential risks.
  • Stay current with the latest networking technologies, security threats, and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience with network design, implementation, and support in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, STP, VLANs).
  • Hands-on experience with major network vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks).
  • Expertise in firewall management, VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL VPN), and intrusion prevention systems.
  • Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).
  • Solid troubleshooting skills across complex network topologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+).
  • Experience with cloud networking platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of ITIL frameworks and practices.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages for network automation (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
