Your day-to-day will involve hands-on configuration of routers, switches, and firewalls from leading vendors, as well as working with specialized telecom equipment such as optical transport systems (e.g., DWDM/OTN), microwave radios, and IP-PBX systems. You will play a key role in monitoring network performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to optimize traffic flow and ensure QoS/SLA adherence. Beyond operational tasks, you’ll also be involved in strategic planning, evaluating new technologies, and making recommendations for architectural enhancements that align with our long-term business objectives. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable and secure telecommunications network infrastructure.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and specialized telecom equipment (e.g., DWDM, microwave, VoIP gateways).
- Monitor network performance, analyze traffic patterns, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to plan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
- Provide advanced technical support and incident resolution for complex network issues, including on-call rotation as required.
- Ensure network security best practices are implemented and maintained, adhering to industry standards and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in capacity planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives.
- Evaluate new network technologies and recommend solutions to enhance network efficiency and capabilities.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and other core networking protocols.
- Proficiency with Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent routing and switching platforms.
- Experience with telecommunications technologies such as DWDM/OTN, SDH/SONET, Microwave, and VoIP.
- Familiarity with network security principles and firewall management (e.g., FortiGate, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA).
- Solid troubleshooting skills and experience with network diagnostic tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIS-SP, JNCIP-SP, Nokia NRS I/II).
- Experience with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible).
