Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced electroencephalograms (EEGs), evoked potentials (EPs), and nerve conduction studies (NCS) in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Conduct long-term EEG monitoring (LTM) for epilepsy diagnosis and pre-surgical evaluation, including video EEG.
- Operate and troubleshoot highly specialized neurodiagnostic equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and calibration.
- Accurately record, analyze, and summarize neurophysiological data for interpretation by neurologists and clinical teams.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, highlighting significant findings and potential artifacts.
- Ensure patient comfort, safety, and understanding throughout the diagnostic procedure, providing clear explanations and emotional support.
- Collaborate effectively with neurologists, neurosurgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to integrate findings into comprehensive patient care plans.
- Adhere strictly to established departmental protocols, national guidelines (e.g., ABRET, CSNN), and hospital policies for patient safety and data integrity.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and professional development activities to maintain specialist expertise.
- Mentor junior technologists and contribute to the training and education of new staff members.
Required Skills
- Certified in Neurodiagnostic Technology (e.g., Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG T.) or equivalent).
- Minimum 4 years of clinical experience as a Neurodiagnostic Technologist, with a focus on specialist procedures.
- Expert proficiency in performing and troubleshooting EEGs, EPs, and NCS, including complex cases.
- Thorough understanding of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and neurological disorders.
- Exceptional patient care skills, including the ability to manage anxious or difficult-to-test patients.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities for data interpretation and artifact recognition.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for patient interaction and report generation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficiency with various neurodiagnostic software and hardware systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Additional certifications such as Registered Evoked Potential Technologist (R.EP T.) or Certified Intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring Technologist (CNIM).
- Experience with advanced modalities like quantitative EEG (QEEG) or magnetoencephalography (MEG).
- Previous experience in an academic or research-intensive medical center.
- Demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience within a neurodiagnostic department.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
