Job Description

This role as a Neuroscientist – Academic at Hiring.zycto offers a unique opportunity for a dedicated and visionary researcher to significantly contribute to our burgeoning neuroscience department located in the heart of Montreal. As a Neuroscientist – Academic, you will be instrumental in conceptualizing, designing, and executing advanced research projects spanning various facets of neuroscience, from molecular and cellular mechanisms to cognitive and behavioral studies. Your work will involve utilizing sophisticated methodologies, including advanced imaging techniques, electrophysiology, computational modeling, and genetic approaches, to generate novel insights into brain function and dysfunction. Beyond your research endeavors, you will play a vital role in our academic community. This includes the supervision and mentorship of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research assistants, guiding them in their scientific development and fostering an environment of critical thinking and discovery. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, conduct, and manage independent research projects in neuroscience.
  • Secure external grant funding through successful grant writing and applications.
  • Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
  • Present research at national and international scientific conferences.
  • Mentor and supervise graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research assistants.
  • Contribute to departmental seminars, committees, and intellectual life.
  • Collaborate with internal and external research groups to foster interdisciplinary studies.
  • Potentially teach advanced neuroscience courses at the graduate level.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of postdoctoral research experience in an academic setting
  • Demonstrated record of high-impact peer-reviewed publications
  • Proven ability to secure competitive research grants
  • Expertise in experimental design, data analysis, and statistical methods
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English
  • Experience in mentoring and supervising junior researchers
  • Proficiency in advanced laboratory techniques relevant to neuroscience (e.g., electrophysiology, imaging, molecular biology)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience teaching at the university level
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset for working in Montreal
