Job Description

Are you a seasoned and compassionate driver looking to leverage your skills for a greater purpose? Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated NGO Driver to join our dynamic team, supporting critical logistics and field operations in Hotwells, Bristol, and surrounding areas. This isn’t just a driving job; it’s a vital role at the heart of our non-profit activities, directly impacting communities and facilitating the delivery of essential services and aid.

As an NGO Driver, you will be the backbone of our field presence, responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of personnel, volunteers, beneficiaries, and various goods, including essential supplies and equipment. You’ll navigate diverse routes, from urban streets to potentially less accessible rural paths, always prioritizing safety, punctuality, and adherence to all traffic regulations and organizational policies. Your role extends beyond just driving; you’ll be a key member of our operational support, assisting with loading and unloading, conducting routine vehicle maintenance checks, and ensuring our fleet remains in optimal condition.

We are looking for someone with a meticulous approach to vehicle care, excellent navigational abilities, and a proven track record of reliability. You will maintain accurate logbooks, manage fuel consumption records, and report any vehicle issues promptly. Your contribution will directly enable our programs to reach those who need them most, making a tangible difference in people’s lives every single day. If you possess a strong sense of responsibility, a proactive attitude, and a genuine desire to contribute to humanitarian efforts, we encourage you to apply and become an indispensable part of our mission-driven team.

  • Conduct daily pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, ensuring vehicles are roadworthy, clean, and well-maintained. Report any mechanical issues or damage promptly.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date vehicle logbooks, recording mileage, fuel consumption, service dates, and travel itineraries.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of supplies and equipment, ensuring secure transport and proper handling of all items.
  • Perform minor emergency roadside repairs (e.g., changing a flat tire) and ensure vehicles are equipped with necessary safety tools.
  • Support field operations as required, which may include setting up basic equipment, assisting with event logistics, or providing general on-site support.
  • Manage route planning and navigation efficiently, adapting to changing road conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism and confidentiality when interacting with staff, beneficiaries, and external partners.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies or incidents on the road, following established protocols for reporting and assistance.
