Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, during night hours.
- Support patient mobility, transfers, and positioning to ensure comfort and prevent complications.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and accurately document observations.
- Report any changes in patient condition, concerns, or emergencies to the Registered Nurse immediately.
- Assist with feeding and hydration, ensuring dietary requirements are met and encouraging fluid intake.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment for patients, including changing bed linens and tidying patient areas.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, responding to call bells promptly and courteously.
- Document care provided and observations meticulously in patient records.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety policies, infection control procedures, and organisational protocols.
- Assist with the admission and discharge of patients as directed by nursing staff.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Nurse Assistant, Healthcare Assistant, or equivalent.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent qualification).
- Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate and patient-centred care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team during night shifts.
- Proficient in basic life support and first aid (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong observational and documentation skills.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection (GDPR).
