Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Occupational Health Manager with a strong focus on Safety to join our growing team in Winnipeg. This pivotal role involves leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of comprehensive occupational health and safety programs across our operations. As the Occupational Health Manager – Safety, you will be the primary expert responsible for identifying potential workplace hazards, conducting risk assessments, and implementing effective control measures. Your leadership will drive initiatives designed to prevent injuries, illnesses, and promote a healthy work environment. This role demands a proactive individual with excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of occupational health and safety principles, and the ability to influence positive change at all levels of the organization. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive occupational health and safety programs and policies.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable provincial (e.g., WSH Act) and federal occupational health and safety regulations.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and hazard assessments to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead and manage incident investigations, including root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures.
- Develop and deliver engaging safety training programs for employees and management.
- Monitor and report on key safety performance indicators (KPIs), analyzing trends and recommending improvements.
- Manage WCB claims and return-to-work programs, ensuring proper documentation and support for injured employees.
- Promote a proactive safety culture through communication, engagement, and recognition programs.
- Liaise with external regulatory bodies, industry associations, and health & safety professionals.
- Manage occupational health services, including first aid, medical surveillance, and ergonomic assessments.
- Advise senior leadership on health and safety best practices and regulatory changes.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in occupational health and safety management.
- Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or equivalent certification.
- Thorough knowledge of Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and Regulations, and other relevant legislation.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing effective safety management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reports, presentations, and training.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a related discipline.
- Experience in a multi-site or large industrial environment.
- Familiarity with OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, or CSA Z45001 standards.
- Experience with occupational hygiene principles and practices.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
