Key Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms with sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists during surgical procedures, maintaining a sterile field.
- Monitor patient vital signs and collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
- Perform pre-operative patient assessments and prepare patients for surgery.
- Provide post-operative care and monitoring, including recovery room duties.
- Document all nursing care, observations, and interventions accurately and timely.
- Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and infection control policies.
- Respond effectively to emergent situations and provide immediate critical care.
- Educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery when applicable.
- Collaborate effectively with diverse healthcare teams in various clinical settings.
- Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to new environments, policies, and procedures during travel assignments.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing for Canada.
- Minimum 2-3 years of recent experience as an Operating Room Nurse.
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and aseptic techniques.
- Proficiency in pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative nursing care.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Specialty certification in Operating Room Nursing (e.g., CNOR).
- Experience in a variety of surgical specialties (e.g., orthopedics, neuro, cardio).
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems used in diverse settings.
- PALS certification.
- Previous travel nursing experience.
