Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity, refractions, and health assessments.
- Diagnose and manage ocular diseases and conditions, prescribing appropriate treatments and medications.
- Prescribe and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision correction devices.
- Co-manage patients with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals as needed.
- Educate patients on proper eye care, contact lens hygiene, and overall health practices.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Stay current with advancements in optometry and participate in continuing education.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative clinic environment, enhancing patient experience.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current or eligible for licensure to practice Optometry in the state of Tennessee.
- Proven experience in performing comprehensive eye exams and diagnosing ocular conditions.
- Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-first approach.
- Proficiency in using optometric diagnostic equipment and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specialty contact lens fittings (e.g., scleral lenses, orthokeratology).
- Certification in glaucoma treatment or other advanced ocular disease management.
- Experience working with diverse patient populations.
- Ability to communicate in additional languages is a plus.
