Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive organizational systems for various museum spaces, including collections storage, administrative offices, archival areas, and staff common zones.
- Develop and manage inventory processes for non-collection assets, supplies, equipment, and departmental resources.
- Optimize space utilization and workflow efficiency across designated operational areas, ensuring logical placement and easy access.
- Coordinate with collections management, curatorial, conservation, and facilities teams on space planning initiatives, material relocation, and display preparation.
- Ensure consistent adherence to organizational standards and best practices, contributing to a clean, safe, and highly functional work environment.
- Assist with the physical arrangement and setup for special projects, events, and exhibitions, requiring precise logistical planning.
- Contribute to the development and documentation of internal policies and procedures related to institutional organization and resource management.
- Research and recommend innovative organizational tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance museum operations.
- Conduct regular audits and evaluations of existing systems to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience in professional organizing, space management, or an equivalent role within a complex institutional setting.
- Exceptional organizational, project management, and time management skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing inventory management systems or databases.
- Demonstrated ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 30 lbs and perform tasks requiring physical mobility.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effective collaboration with diverse teams.
- Proven problem-solving aptitude and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Museum Studies, Library Science, Archival Studies, Facilities Management, or a related field.
- Experience working within a museum, gallery, university, or other cultural heritage institution.
- Familiarity with preservation best practices and cultural heritage standards.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultural protocols and sensitivities, particularly in the context of museum collections.
- Experience with specialized museum collection management software (e.g., FileMaker Pro, Re:discovery, PastPerfect).
