Job Description

Hiring.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Orthodontic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic team in Ionview, Toronto. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for orthodontic procedures and assist the orthodontist during treatments, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment in strict accordance with infection control protocols and health regulations.
  • Accurately take and develop diagnostic records, including X-rays, impressions, and intra-oral photographs.
  • Educate patients and parents on proper oral hygiene, appliance care, and post-treatment instructions tailored to their needs.
  • Manage patient appointments, maintain accurate and confidential treatment records, and assist with general office duties as needed.
  • Place and remove orthodontic archwires, ligatures, and other appliances as directed by the orthodontist.
  • Monitor patient comfort throughout appointments and proactively address any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Provide chairside assistance for various orthodontic adjustments, bonding, debonding, and retainer fittings.

Required Skills

  • Current certification as a Dental Assistant in Ontario (CDA II or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience specifically in an orthodontic practice.
  • Proficiency in taking high-quality dental radiographs (intra-oral, panoramic, and cephalometric).
  • Strong knowledge of orthodontic instruments, materials, and procedures.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with a patient-first approach.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume, and team-oriented clinical environment.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest orthodontic techniques and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with orthodontic specific practice management software (e.g., OrthoTrac, Dolphin Imaging).
  • Experience with digital scanning technologies (e.g., iTero, TRIOS, Medit).
  • Bilingualism (English and another language commonly spoken in Toronto) is considered an asset.
