Job Description
Hiring.zycto is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Overnight Security Officer to join our professional team in Birmingham. This critical role involves ensuring the safety and security of our client’s premises, assets, and personnel during the night hours. As an Overnight Security Officer, you will be the first line of defence, responsible for maintaining a secure environment through proactive patrols, monitoring surveillance equipment, controlling access, and responding to any incidents with professionalism and efficiency. Your keen observational skills and unwavering commitment will be essential in preventing unauthorised access, detecting potential threats, and reporting suspicious activities. The night shift demands self-reliance, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to work independently while remaining an integral part of our broader security network. You will be expected to conduct regular foot patrols, inspect alarm systems, secure entry points, and complete detailed reports of your activities and any occurrences throughout your shift. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular internal and external patrols of the premises to deter and detect security breaches.
- Monitor CCTV systems and alarm panels diligently, reporting any anomalies or suspicious activities.
- Control access to the site, verifying identities, issuing visitor passes, and ensuring only authorized personnel enter.
- Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, incidents, and emergencies, including fire, medical, and security breaches.
- Maintain detailed and accurate logs, incident reports, and daily activity reports.
- Enforce site rules and regulations consistently and fairly.
- Safeguard company property and assets against theft, vandalism, and damage.
- Assist with the secure opening and closing of premises as required.
- Provide a visible security presence to deter criminal activity and ensure a safe environment for staff and visitors.
- Liaise effectively with emergency services when necessary.
Required Skills
- Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) Door Supervisor or Security Guarding license.
- Proven experience in a security role, preferably within a corporate or commercial environment.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective reporting and interaction.
- Ability to operate CCTV and access control systems.
- Proficiency in incident management and emergency response procedures.
- A professional demeanour and high level of integrity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team during night shifts.
- Basic IT literacy for report writing and data entry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working night shifts in a security capacity.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- Knowledge of local security regulations and protocols in Birmingham.
- Customer service experience in a security context.
