As a Package Handler, you’ll be involved in the critical steps of sorting, scanning, loading, and unloading packages of varying sizes and weights. This fast-paced environment requires attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively as part of a cohesive team. Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently sort and process packages according to destination, size, and weight.
- Load and unload packages from trucks and conveyor belts, ensuring proper handling and placement.
- Scan packages accurately using handheld devices to track movement and ensure delivery integrity.
- Inspect packages for damage and report any issues to supervisors promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety protocols.
- Operate material handling equipment safely, such as pallet jacks, after receiving proper training and certification.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve daily productivity goals and ensure smooth operations.
- Prepare packages for shipment, including wrapping, labeling, and staging.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall warehouse and logistics operations.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry packages weighing up to 70 lbs (32 kg) frequently.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in sorting and scanning.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
- Basic literacy skills to read labels and follow instructions.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or package handling role.
- Familiarity with scanning equipment and warehouse management systems.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience operating pallet jacks or other material handling equipment (certification a plus).
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
